Smt. B. K. Shah Medical Institute & Research Centre, is a constituent college of Sumandeep Vidyapeeth An Institution Deemed to be University, under Section 3 of UGC Act 1956, At & Po Piparia, Ta Waghodia, Dist Vadodara, Gujarat -391760. Smt. B.K. Shah Medical Institute & Research Centre was granted permission by Medical Council of India & Government of India on 30th September 2003 with intake capacity of 150 Medical Students. On 17th January 2007 Deemed University status was awarded to the University U/S 3 of UGC act of 1956. After that Smt. B. K. Shah Medical Institute & Research Centre is one of the constituent of Sumandeep Vidyapeeth. The M.B.B.S Degree was recognized on 30/06/ 2008. The Medical Council of India had conducted inspection in various subjects, from September 2008 to February 2009 following which The Government of India gave permission to start Post Graduate courses in 69 Post Graduate degree in 20 subjects and 25 Post Graduate Diploma seats were permitted .First batch of Post Graduate students at Smt. B. K. Shah Medical Institute & Research Centre was admitted by Sumandeep Vidyapeeth on the basis of All India Entrance Test conducted by Sumandeep Vidyapeeth. The 1st batch admission was completed before 31st May 2009. in subsequent years, the number of PG degree seats and PG diploma seats in various subjects have been increased.On 28/02/2019, MCI by its notification converted 25 Dipolma seats to 24 Degree seats and so total available PG Degree from 2019 are 136.In addition super speciality courses in (D.M./M.Ch.) have been started in five disciplines. Currently five recognised seats are available in super speciality courses.
Dhiraj hospital was established in year 2002 and at present has developed into 1065 bedded tertiary care teaching hospital with state of art facilities.
