Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Medical Education (AIMS) is the 4th government-aided medical college of Punjab. It is situated on the outskirts of Mohali in Sector 56. The Institute was announced to establish a medical college attached to the existing district hospital. Recently, the college has applied to the National Medical Commission for permitting an annual intake of 100 medical students to the undergraduate program. AIMS Mohali is an autonomous society under state government and affiliated with Baba Farid university of health sciences, Faridkot, Punjab.

The Medical college has two interconnected blocks-Academic Block and Hostel block. The academic block houses the office of the Director Principal, administrative offices, Committee room, and various departments. There are lecture theatres, Skill Labs and Central Library.

About Hostel

The hostel block has mess area, hostel rooms, common rooms, gymnasium and sports complex. All rooms have an attached bathroom and balcony. The common rooms are well equipped with a television and a gymnasium separate for boys and girls. Apart from sports complex there is area for an open-air gym too. Additionally, it has child care facilities and suite rooms for guests.

In addition to the existing college and hospital blocks, the new college building is planned at sector 81, S.A.S nagar on 28 acres of land. Besides this, foundation stone has been laid for Jujhar Nagar area.

About Teaching Hospital

The Teaching hospital and Medical college are inter-connected with a 2 min walking distance. Hospital consists of two Blocks-block 1 and block 2 . It is a 420-bedded hospital with 15 units of different specialties.

In last 6 months the hospital recorded OPD attendance of 163396.

The major operation theatres recorded a load of 1886 cases in the last 6 months. All specialties have separate wards for male and female inpatient admissions.
