About Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC)

Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), located in Delhi, was established in 1958 with the aim to impart knowledge and training to students. The government institute is affiliated with Delhi University and has been approved by the Medical Council of India (MIC). The distinguished faculty at MAMC is extremely helpful and provides students with high-class education and knowledge to do better in their field. Students are accepted for undergraduate, postgraduate, and super-speciality programs under the University of Delhi’s Faculty of Medical Sciences. MAMC holds a four-and-a-half-year MBBS degree with a one-year mandatory rotational internship. Besides, admission to MBBS is determined by the rank attained in the national-level entrance exam NEET UG or CBSE’s All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT).

Students are offered internships at the hospitals affiliated with the Maulana Azad Medical College. They get an opportunity to receive the highest quality training and guidance through internships and research. Attached to the college are 4 other institutes – Lok Nayak Hospital, GB Pant Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research, Maulana Azad Institute of Dental sciences and Guru Nanak Eye Center. It is one of the best place for learning with 2800 beds, 7200 daily outpatient attendance and 47 operation theatres running daily. It caters to 290 undergraduate students, 245 post graduate and post doctoral students per year being trained by 426 faculty members and 810 resident doctors.

The college made a very humble beginning in 1958 with the erstwhile Irwin hospital (now the Lok Nayak Hospital) attached to it. The college is named after a great patriot and educationist, Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad and stands today as an epitome of medical excellence.

MBBS Courses and Fees

The total fees for a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) in Delhi, India are approximately ₹36,700 for 66 months:

In addition to the tuition, hostel, and one-time fees, there are also annual charges for lessons, library, and laboratory. There are also other annual charges, such as: University Athletic Fee: ₹20, University Cultural Council Fee: ₹5, Students’ Aid Fund: ₹10, and Students’ Stationery Fund: ₹50. 
 
MAMC also offers scholarships for MBBS students based on family income and college exam scores. The Maulana Azad Student Scholarship Scheme is for students with a family income of less than ₹1 lakh per year, and the Smt Santosh Sharma Memorial Scholarship Scheme is for students with a family income of less than ₹2 lakh per year. First-year students are not eligible for these scholarships.

Emergency Services:

  1. Any case of injury within first 24 hours of injury can visit the casualty department of Lok Nayak hospital gate no 4 for initial management, first aid,splintage of injured part, and stabilization of patients general condition
  2. Other orthopaedic emergencies managed are acute bone and joint infections
  3. The patient might be discharged after initial management for follow up in opd or if condition of the patient warrants he / she may be admitted
  4. Certain orthopaedic injuries are definitively managed in casualty by means of reduction plaster or operative intervention Patients who are discharged need to revisit opd on day and timings mentioned on emergency slip for follow up
