About Government Medical College, Anantnag

Government Medical College, Anantnag (GMC Anantnag) is located in the picturesque region (South Kashmir) of Jammu and Kashmir, is a shining beacon of healthcare education and medical services in the north India. It was established in the year 2018 with the object to provide quality education and deliver the health care service to the people of entire south Kashmir & Pir Panjal region. The college is affiliated with University of Kashmir and recognized by National Medical Commission.

Main campus of GMC ANANTNAG is located at Dialgam which is 7 km from District ANANTNAG. Associated hospitals of GMC Anantnag are Mirza Mohammad Afzal Begh Memorial (MMABM) District Hospital JanglatMandi (Sheerpora) Anantnag & Maternity & Child care Hospital (MCCH) Sherbagh Anantmag. Besides Rural Health Training centre (RHTC) Sagam , Kokernag & Urban Health Training centre (UHTC) Brakpora Anantnag are also associated with it.

GMC Anantnag offers various programmes. The selection to MBBS is done on the basis of merit through the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET UG). Yearly undergraduate student intake is 100 from the year 2019. The college also started imparting the Post graduate training course such as DNB and PG-Diploma from the year 2020 in various disciplines. And now the sanctioned strength for these PG courses has been increased from 32 in 2020 to 55 in 2023 per year. With its affiliated Nursing & Paramedical College (CNPS) ANANTNAG also offers the courses to undergraduate nursing and paramedic students, with an intake capacity of 100 per year.

Besides, in the south kashmir region 03 nursing & paramedical colleges of Kulgam, pulwama & Shopian are also affiliated with GMC Anantnag.
