About Al-Karim University
Katihar Medical College is located inside Al-Karim University premises spread over a lush green parcel of land. The college consists of various blocks housing different facilities such as administration, demonstration rooms, lecture theatres, OPDs, inpatient wards, emergency and casualty services, ICUs, dialysis unit, radio-diagnosis and other investigation services including blood centre.
Principal and many faculty members have facility of residential quarters within the premises of the university besides a well-furnished Guest House for examiners and other guests.
The college library is well-stocked with textbooks, reference books and journals. The library has subscribed to online medical library consisting of about 2000 e-resources (Academic Journals, Conference Proceedings, Magazines, Reports, Trade Publications) and about 4000 e-books which can be accessed remotely. Multiple books, national and international journals in print format are also available. All teaching departments have their own departmental libraries.
All the teaching departments are well-equipped with all the required equipment for teaching as well as patient care. Facilities of Cath Lab, MRI (1.5 tesla), CT Scan, Mammography, X-Ray, Ultrasonography, Microbiological investigations, Molecular Biology studies, Pathology and Biochemistry studies are well-equipped.

MBBS Courses and Fees
1. At the time of the admission while paying the fees for 1st year through Bank Draft/RTGS/NEFT, the candidates shall also have to furnish Bank Guarantee / Bond for payment of tuition fees for the remaining period of the course.
2. At the time of the admission, the candidates must pay Tuition fee, Development fee, Hostel fee, Student amenities and services fee and Refundable security deposit.
3. Tuition fee: Rs. 11,05,000/- (Rupees eleven lakhs and five thousand) per annum.
For Non-Resident Indian and foreign students admitted on seats reserved for NRI, the tuition fee shall be USD 28,000/- (USD twenty-eight thousand) per annum. In case of payment of fee in Indian currency by NRI candidates, the USD conversion rate applicable on the date of payment of fee shall be payable.
4. Development fee: Rs. 1,50,000/- (Rupees one lakh and twenty thousand) per annum. Development fee is not applicable for Non-Resident Indian and Foreign students.
5. The tuition fee and development fee shall be charged for a total of 4 1⁄2 years.
6. Hostel Fee: Rs. 2,37,600/- (Rupees two lakhs and thirty seven thousand and six hundred) per annum. Air-conditioned hostel is available for boys and girls students separately. It is mandatory for the students to reside in the university/college provided hostel. Hostel fee shall be charged for a total of 5 1⁄2 years. Students staying in the hostel for more than 5 1⁄2 years either due to failure in examination or extension of internship or any other reason shall be required to pay additional hostel fee for their additional stay. The extended duration shall be divided in a fraction of 6 or 12 months and accordingly fee shall be payable as per scheduled date every year.
7. Student Amenities and Services Fee: Rs. 50,000/- (Rupees fifty thousand) per annum (Transport, Sports, Gymnasium, Wi-Fi etc. as per policy of the college/university). Student Amenities and Services fee shall be charged for a total of 5 1⁄2 years. Students staying for more than 5 1⁄2 years either due to failure in examination or extension of internship or any other reason shall be required to pay additional Student Amenities and Services fee. The extended duration shall be divided in a fraction of 6 or 12 months and accordingly fee shall be payable as per scheduled date every year.
8. University Registration Fee: Rs. 18,000/- (Rupees eighteen thousand) payable once at the time of registration. The admitted students must obtain migration certificate from their last university and submit the same along with the registration fee to Al-Karim University within 3 months of admission.
9. Examination and Related Fee: Examination and related fee shall be charged as notified by the university.
10. Convocation fee: Convocation fee shall be charged after completion of course as notified by the university.
11. Refundable Security Deposit: All candidates are required to deposit Rs. 1,00,000/- (Rupees one lakh) as security deposit at the time of admission. This amount is refundable and shall be refunded after deducting dues, if any, after completion of the course.
12. Late Fine: Late fine @Rs. 500/- (Rupees five hundred) per day is applicable in case of late payment of prescribed fee after the end of month of June or due date as notified by the University every year. The students shall clear all their dues before university examination failing which they shall not be allowed to appear for the university examination.
13. A candidate once admitted in the institution shall not be allowed to leave the institution without paying every category of fees (Tuition, Development, Student Amenities and Services, and Hostel fees) for the remaining period of the MBBS course.
14. In accordance with clause 36(4) of the Bihar Private Universities Act 2013, all categories of fees are subject to revision every three years in accordance with the budgetary needs of the institution and general economic parameters. The fees shall be revised in the year 2027, and therefore the revised fees shall be applicable from academic year 2027-28 to the students admitted in session 2024-25.
Note: The above minimum fee structure is subject to condition that in case the fee of the 50% of the total seats is fixed at par with the fee of the Government Medical College of the State by the Government/fee regulatory authority, then the fee of the rest of the 50% of the total seats will be revised and the students shall pay the revised fee including the first year fee. It may kindly be noted by the authorities and the students that the matter of fee fixation on the 50% seats at par with the fee of the Govt. Medical College of the State would be subject to the outcome of Writ Petition (Civil) No. 682 of 2023 pending in the Hon’ble Supreme Court in which this college is Intervener Petitioner (I.A no. 138339/2023 and 138344/2023) and the State Government, Central Government and National Medical Commission are already party Respondents.
